HorrorPops
Kiss Kiss Kill Kill
Hellcat Records
Three and a half stars

With their third album, the cinema-inspired Kiss Kiss Kill Kill, the kitschy L.A.-based HorrorPops have come into their own. Vampy lead singer Patricia Day truly shines here; she can go from breathy intoxication to joyful defiance, all while slapping her upright bass with dexterous relish. Punk doesn’t always need to be serious. HorrorPops proves you can craft a fun pastiche without losing your credibility.

Sounds like:
Tiger Army with a jones for cinema to rival Quentin Tarantino or John Waters.
