This Friday, the Honda Civic Tour will stop in Noblesville at the Verizon Wireless Music Center. The tour’s roster is made up of rapper Paul Wall, ex-Blink 182 members Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker’s new band +44, electro-punk’s finest, Cobra Starship, the rock quintet The Academy Is ... and Fall Out Boy, one of the biggest bands around after the release of their fourth album, Infinity on High.

Hailing from Chicago suburbs, the quartet Fall Out Boy came together in 2001 with members Patrick Stump on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Pete Wentz on bass and backup vocals, Joe Trohman on lead guitar and Andy Hurley on drums. Fall Out Boy had great independent success with their first two CDs, but with the release of their third project, 2005’s From Under the Cork Tree, they gained their first commercial success with the singles “Sugar We’re Goin’ Down,” “Dance, Dance” and “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More Touch Me.” They also received their first Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

While Fall Out Boy could be considered both pop and punk, the band dismisses labeling and prefers simply to be known as a rock band. They admit their live shows are more about performance and having a good time than hitting every note and replicating the quality of their studio work, and fans are never disappointed at the on-stage antics and enthusiasm that drives the adrenaline too many concerts lack. With video screens, smoke machines and springboards propelling the members into the air, it’s a show in every sense of the word. The tour also features a contest that gives local bands a chance to play the opening spot in the lineup.
