Art walks and the new arts season
Holiday send-up
The Phoenix Theatre will again produce A Very Phoenix Xmas Nov. 23-Dec. 23, 2007. The production features sketches and audience participation game shows by 10 playwrights (selected for this year’s show). The pieces range from satire (Christmas on the Island of Recalled Toys) to slapstick (A Very Special Hanukkah Special) to tender (Memoirs of a Snow Globe).
Performances are Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $29, $15 for those 24 and under. During CheapSeats week, Nov. 23-25, all tickets are just $15. Call 317-635-PLAY or go to www.phoenixtheatre.org. The Phoenix is located at 749 N. Park Ave.
The Phoenix is partnering with downtown eatery Canary Café in a program called “Birds of a Feather” to offer a pre-theater meal on the first Friday of each production. The Canary Café, 621 Fort Wayne Ave., will be open exclusively for Phoenix patrons, and will serve a “theme meal” tied to each of the plays. For just $30 ($15 for dinner, $15 for the play ticket), patrons will enjoy a meal and meet Phoenix artists plus fellow theater enthusiasts at the restaurant, then move to the Phoenix for the performance.
