Good read Mitchell
Roger Mitchell has published nine books of poetry and nonfiction, including Half/Mask, Delicate Bait and Clear Pond. The prolific writer spent most of his working life in Southern Indiana, where he directed the creative writing program at IU and, for a time, held the Ruth Lilly chair of poetry. A multiple award winner, Mitchell now divides his time between Jay, N.Y., and Bloomington. A volume of his selected poems is due out in 2008.
Mitchell, whose work has been called “rich in detail, masterly in execution, and always a good read,” by Charles Simic, will read from his works Sept. 9 at the Writers’ Center, 812 E. 67th St., at 7 p.m.
