Ginepri takes on two opponents
by RCA Tennis Jul 12, 2006

Ginerpri defends his title in Round One

Defending RCA Champion, Robby Ginepri, beat his mental block and his opponent, Alejandro Falla, today at the RCA Tennis Championships.

Though he struggled to find his game early in the match, he finished solid with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.

Catherine and Adrienne Truitt, a mother and daughter duo who has followed Ginepri’s career, never doubted his ability. The two watched him play at Wimbledon and understand his lack of confidence after starting the season off with a 6-16 record.

“He has what it takes, but right now he has a mental thing hurting his performance,” Catherine said.

Other players who earned confidence boosters today were Kenneth Carlsen who defeated Andrea Stoppini 7-6 (5), 6-4 and Thiago Alves who defeated Bobby Reynolds 6-4, 6-4.  Hyung-Taik Lee who beat Mark Philippousis 6-4, 7-6 (3).  Another win in Round One came from Fernando Gonzalez took Sam Querrey out in Round Two with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Doubles team, Eric Butorac and Ashley Fisher defeated the team of Sam Querrey and Jesse Whitten 3-6, 6-2, 10-6 in a match tiebreak.
