Big Car Gallery and the Herron Active Student Association are teaming up to produce a film-art and music event featuring the handmade animated films of Brent Green and the live music of Sin Ropas.

Green’s films have screened at Sundance, the Getty and Walker Arts Center. His work has been written up in the New York Times, The New Yorker, Artforum, ArtNews and Bomb. The New York Times called his work “some of the most original animations we’ve seen in years.”

At this event, about an hour of Green’s films will be screened with live narration and improvised soundtracks by Green and Sin Ropas. Sin Ropas will open the show with a set of their songs.

Sin Ropas consists of ex-members of Califone. It’s said they “make dark and wobbly music in an old library in the hills of North Carolina.”

All this happens in the Basile Auditorium of the Herron School of Art and Design, 735 W. New York St., Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5, $3 for students. For more information, call 317-450-6630 or go to www.bigcar.org.
