Feel the beat
by Editors Aug 6, 2008

Is it art? Is it sport? Or a bit of both? Fans of competitive drum corps events don’t really care — they are shaken AND stirred by these performers, who will assemble in Indianapolis Aug. 6 on their way to the competition in Bloomington. The Indianapolis leg of the tour consists of Individual and Ensemble competitions, where individuals and small musical, percussion and visual ensembles from any of the competing corps have an opportunity to showcase their skills. This event is free of charge and begins at the Indianapolis Convention Center at 11 a.m. For more information about Drum Corps International and the DCI Summer Tour, go to www.DCI.org or call 317-275-1212.
Aug. 7, you can watch the competition in Bloomington live on the big screen at many participating movie theaters. “DCI 2008: Big, Loud & Live 5” presents the 2008 World Championship Quarterfinals simulcast live into select movie theaters nationwide at 6 p.m. The world’s top 15 corps compete for top honors at Indiana University’s Memorial Stadium in Bloomington; plus, see highlights from five additional corps. For tickets and theaters, go to www.fathomevents.com. The World Championship Competition in Bloomington runs Aug. 7-9.
