Fab and green
by Editors Aug 20, 2008

Fab for Less is a home design tour and Southeast Neighborhood Development fundraiser that showcases home remodeling for less. This year, the homes chosen were abandoned Eastside dwellings, with the theme of going green.

Five interior designers went dumpster diving and experimented with paint, furniture, wall coverings and more to transform the houses into works of art. Their entire budget was $1,500 for each house. This year, the entire block was also renovated with new sidewalks, esplanade and landscaping. Interested in one of the homes? Buy it and continue the renovation.

The homes on the tour are 1411 New Jersey, “Lean and Green”; 1425 New Jersey, “Fronterhouse and Wise —Mod Fairy Tale”; and 1407 New Jersey, “The English Garden.”

Tours are Aug. 23-24, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $10 on site, or at the SEND office (1030 Orange St.) for only $8. For more information, go to www.fabforless.org.
