McDonald’s is now the leading company in the campaign to halt deforestation for the expansion of soya farming in the Amazon Rainforest. The fast-food chain has agreed to stop selling chicken fed on soya grown in newly deforested areas. In recent years, the expansion of soya farming in the Amazon has become one of the main threats to the world’s largest rainforest. Rather than using the crop to feed the world, it is used to feed farm animals raised for fast-food and supermarket chains.
