Three and a half stars (PG)

Amusing and generally charming Disney comedy/romance blending animation with live action. A princess (Amy Adams) gets zapped out of her animated fairyland and into our world by a jealous queen (Susan Sarandon), where she encounters an engaged guy (Patrick Dempsey) and his daughter (Rachel Covey). Valiant Prince Edward (James Marsden) soon charges to the rescue and all heck breaks loose. The songs are fine and the lack of cynicism is greatly appreciated. 108 minutes. DVD INFO: Two separately packaged DVDs are available. One preserves the film in the anamorphic widescreen format, while the other hacks off nearly a third of the feature for the fullscreen (aka pan & scan) version. Shop carefully. Both versions include an animated feature done in the style of pop-up books, a making-of featurette, deleted scenes and outtakes.
