Foo guitarist Chris Shiflett gets the MVP for his licks on this album, but it’s Dave Grohl’s punk roots, metal cred and pop sensibilities combining to make this one of the Foo’s best in years. Powerfully written hard rock numbers are balanced out by quieter acoustic tracks and with a touch of roots, rock and soul.
