Ask anyone who the “founding father” of American drum and bass is and they will tell you one name: Dieselboy. Philadelphia-based Dieselboy (Damian Higgins) was one of the first U.S. DJs to break his energetic U.K. dance music Stateside and he has not lost steam. Constant touring, coupled with his concept-driven mix CDs, have put him at the top of the game.

His mix CDs (including the latest, The Dungeonmaster’s Guide, based on his self-proclaimed “geek gaming roots”) are favorites among electronic music fans, not only for the incredible custom remixes from top artists he pulls together, but for the smooth mixes and sci-fi soundscapes he creates along the way.

Higgins maintains that laziness is not in his repertoire. “With every CD, I’ve tried to set the bar a little higher than the time before,” he says. “I try to do creative, artistic stuff [and] really go for it and do something different. I’m working hard now to keep progressing, developing and bettering myself overall as a musician and as an artist. You always have to keep reinventing yourself and doing new stuff, or you’re just going to fall through the cracks.”

With such determination to keep his standards high, you can bet that his appearance in Indy will be one to remember. So when those high-energy snares smack you in the face and the sub bass rattles your chest, don’t say you weren’t warned.

ya just can't support building the music in indy without opening your hatin piehole, can ya? i guess when you actually use your name, we'll be able to see just how good a dj/big a scene supporter you really are, eh? cuz until you have done as much to build recognition for american dnb all over the world...well...your opinion means JACK.

Dieselboy

As half of the opening act for Dieselboy I'd like to thank you guys for the story. It's great for us to have some media attention that focuses on the artists and sound of electronic dance music(EDM) as opposed to the negative "drug-fest" attention we have got in the past. I really appreciate the fact that NUVO has been kind enough to shine the spotlight on EDM in Indianapolis as long as I can remember. I feel you have the perfect laison person with Lisa as well, nobody I know is better fitted to open our culture to the masses. Kudos NUVO for your continued support of EDM in Indianapolis, I look forward to future topics!
