Three rock bands that span more than three decades will perform July 6 at the Verizon Wireless Music Center. Def Leppard, REO Speedwagon and Styx will put on a night full of nothing less than pure rock ’n’ roll. The bands have proven for years that there will be rock for all ages.
Def Leppard has been playing for 30 years. Their first album came out in 1979. Since then, the band has sold out shows worldwide. The British rockers even received the honorary Diamond Award (sales over 10 million) for both Hysteria and Pyromania. Only four other rock bands in history have been able to achieve two Diamond Awards: Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin. Hysteria proved to be Def Leppard’s most popular piece of work, selling over 18 million copies and also became one of the best-selling albums of all time. It included seven hit singles, including “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and “Rocket.”
Next on the list is REO Speedwagon, releasing their first new studio album in a decade, Find Your Own Way Home. The members of REO play classic hits like “Take it on the Run” and “Can’t Fight this Feeling.”
The third installment to Friday’s show is Styx, with hits like “Mr. Roboto” and “Come Sail Away.” Styx and REO match up well. Both bands had their first album released in 1971, both bands are Midwestern and they have played countless shows together.
