Concerts on the Canal, Indiana History Center; May 31
A capacity audience filled the plaza and the green space across the canal to enjoy the opening program of free Thursday concerts starting at 6 p.m. Perennial favorites Shannon Forsell and Jimmy Guilford were joined by special guest Ezra Todd Shelton with “smooth jazz and swinging favorites.” Director Roy Geesa and players delivered a unified sound and individual licks that carried well across the listening area despite the usual outdoor distractions and a less-than-perfect sound system. Dancers utilized every possible space, and included a jogging couple who stopped to do a few turns and earn applause. Walkers came into view, loping to the rhythm of the music. Call 317-232-1882 for information about the season.
