Three stars

Crackers in Broad Ripple;
Nov. 28-Dec. 2

In a medium where the absurd is demanded, the outlandish is celebrated and the perverse is handsomely rewarded, Henry Cho delivered a family-safe night of polished comedy that seems to have been built in a laboratory and then stamped, posted and purposefully hand-carted to America’s 30-something-aged masses for their familiar enjoyment. Cho is a 45-year-old full-blooded Korean from Knoxville, with a deep and slow Southern accent. When he spoke for the first time, a hush came over the crowd — imagine Brett Favre’s voice, but with well-rehearsed comedic timing and basic grammar skills. While his routine often leaned on a crutch of tired old marriage jokes and stereotypical fatherhood blunders, Cho delivered wit and optimism that was impossible not to enjoy. He has a confident charm that distinguishes his formulaic approach, making him a mildly predictable but sharply funny comedian.
