Thank you so much for your column response to the visit by the vice president last month (Hoppe, “Dick Cheney at the War Memorial,” Nov. 7-14). You know what you had to say, and you were factually correct, and your response, conclusions and suggestions, very appropriate. As you realize, some of our congressional representatives have sponsored articles of impeachment against Cheney, and I applaud you for letting your readers know many of the horrific reasons why you think of him as a war criminal.

I appreciated so much learning from you that a coalition has filed a legal complaint in France accusing Donald Rumsfeld of responsibility for torture in Iraq and Guantanomo Bay. It was good of you to condemn the Democrats in Congress for taking the impeachment of Bush and Cheney off the table, and, as you aptly wrote, thereby “reserving for themselves the right to bully if and where they please.” To the best of my knowledge, this diabolical thinking of the House leadership and others has not been presented in print anywhere else in Indianapolis, except on Nov. 7, in NUVO. Reading your learned response almost made having Dick Cheney, aka Darth Vader, in our downtown worth my uneasiness.
