The 11th Annual Carmel International Arts Festival will take over the Arts & Design District (blocks surrounding intersection of Rangeline Road and Main Street) this weekend. One hundred and fifty-five juried artists will display their arts and crafts along Main Street. There will also be artwork on display from Carmel’s Japanese sister city, Kawachinagano, including 40 pieces of children’s art. Among the activities this year will be a chance for adults to paint, sponsored by the Hamiliton County Artists’ Association. Ample kids’ activities will abound, including a session of easel painting. A possible highlight will be the Chinese Dragon Dance team performance at 10 am Saturday. And, of course, there will be an abundance of international cuisine available from vendors, including German bratwurst and Philippine egg rolls. Last year, 30,000 attended this event, according to Carmel International Arts Festival President Rosemary Waters. “It’s free and it’s fun,” she says. The festival runs Sept. 27-28, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Ample parking is available at Carmel High School, 520 E. Main St. For more information, call 317-573-9602 or go to www.carmelartsfestival.org.
