Open Turntable Night with DJs Greg Campbell and Sarah Vain
Bourbon Street Distillery

Sundays, 7 p.m. sign in, free

With a lot of DJ talent existing in Indy but not many venues to support such acts, some local DJs have been restricted to their bedrooms to spin their extensive record collections, according to DJ Greg Campbell.

“My goal is to eliminate that and give everyone a chance to play their awesome music — no matter what it is — at a legitimate club with professional equipment on a good quality sound system,” he says.

So Campbell and DJ Sarah Vain have begun a new open turntable night on Sundays at the Bourbon Street Distillery. From rock to punk rock, hip-hop, disco, ’80s, new wave, house, electronica, goth, industrial, indie rock, reggae, metal and more, every musical genre is welcome. Spinning equipment provided for DJs includes two Technics turntables, an Allen and Heath mixer and two CD turntables. iPods are also welcome. Timeslots fill in fast, so DJs should arrive by 7 p.m. to sign in.

Hosted by diverse DJs with years of spinning experience, Campbell and Vain often give tips to aid amateurs.

“Sarah and I are always cordial and attentive to newcomers, along with everyone else, and any questions they have,” Campbell says.
He predicts the Sunday affair to be the best new weekly night for diverse fans of music to play records, hang out or both.

“This night will open minds up even further,” Campbell says.
