Bolth, The Shake-Up!, Young Til We Die, The Glory City Disasters
by Nick Selm Aug 1, 2007

The Underground at the Harrison Center for the Arts
Monday, Aug. 6, 7 p.m., $6, all-ages

This has been a great summer for the Underground. Bomb the Music Industry, A Global Threat and Piradical Fest were all huge draws and a big boost to the local scene, encouraging regional and touring acts to book stops in Indy. And the Underground is only gaining steam as a venue.

On Aug. 6, local punk rock powerhouse Bolth will take the stage along with New Jersey grind-ska wizards The Shake-Up!, The Glory City Disasters and Young Til We Die. “I’d heard The Shake-Up! before we got offered the show,” says Bolth mouthpiece and guitarist J.S. “So I’m pumped to hear their grind-ska live. It’s also good to be playing with the Glory City Disasters again. It’s neat to see the next generation of punk kids doing their thing, and doing it well.”

The Glory City Disasters are easily the city’s youngest, most talented band. With some members not yet in high school, they still mange to control the stage like battle-hardened veterans. Their style of hardcore street-punk is reminiscent of Lars Fredricksen and the Bastards and The Casualties. As they play more shows, the band only gets better. Also in the works for the GCD is a new album, so expect some new songs from these young rapscallions. Bolth, with a new album in the works as well, is bound to deliver a rowdy performance. For those so-called music fans in the city that have yet to go to the Underground, this might be the best opportunity to see local punk and ska talent.

Bolth is an amazing band. Go see them! I can't believe how good GCD is too. Young punks!
