Big biking weekend: Critical Mass, NITE Ride, and Zville Criterium scheduled
Downtown Indianapolis
Friday, June 27, 5:30 p.m.
Cycling in Indianapolis celebrates one of it's favorite events this weekend with Critical Mass – a monthly community bike ride that begins near the Arts Garden of Circle Centre Mall at the corner of Washington and Illinois streets. The rides are short, non-competitive urban bike rides through the city that begin at 5:30 p.m. They are free and take place rain or shine, all year round. For more on Critical Mass contact Greg Buck at gregorybuck@hotmail.com.
N.I.T.E. Ride
Major Taylor Velodrome
Saturday, June 28, 11:00 p.m.
While the “official” N.I.T.E. Ride begins at 11:00 p.m. and takes participants on a two-hour ride through the city, the event itself begins at practically the crack of dawn. A morning “club ride” that kicks off the full day of cycling at 8:00 a.m. with the Central Indiana Bicycling Association includes rides of 17, 32, 45, and 58 miles. A dinner ride is also scheduled for 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The Velodrome will host vendors and riders throughout the day, with a United States Cycling Federation track races scheduled at 7:00 featuring some of the best cyclists from around the state competing in a variety of heats. For more information on N.I.T.E. Ride 2008, go to www.niteride.org.
Zionsville Criterium
Downtown Zionsville
Sunday, June 29, 3:00 p.m.
The 10th annual Zionsville Grand Prix will take place through the brick streets of Zionsville village this Sunday. A 30-mile, multi-lap course with four sharp corners, for Category 1-3 riders will be the main event of the day, (let's see if the NUVO-Cultural Trail team can defend their first place finish from last year!). Other races will be held throughout the afternoon, including races for female riders and Category 4 and 5 riders, as well as an open race. For more information or to register for any of the races go www.truesport.com and look for a recap of the Cat 1 race in next week's NUVO.

I can affirm that the exhibition offers much to savor, in addition to a gift shop the likes of which you’ve never tasted. It offers history and lore...
Do the new, larger curbside recycling bins make you want to join in the city's recycling efforts?
