Aunt Jane's 'Legacy'
by Editors May 14, 2008

Aunt Jane, a near-mythical character in Appalachian folklore, is the focal point for a one-woman show, Legacy, at the Indiana State Museum starring Miki Mathioudakis and written by Rita Kohn.

Kohn a frequent NUVO contributer, has been collecting Aunt Jane stories since 1969. In her play, Aunt Jane is beginning her last quilt and reminiscing about life in northern Kentucky as a descendent of a family of settlers who came across the Cumberland Gap.

Legacy will be performed May 15 at 7 p.m. and May 16 at 10:30 a.m. and at 7 p.m. Evening performances are $10 for non-ISM members; the morning show is included with museum admission. The ISM is located at 6560 W. Washington St.
