The Irving Theater
Saturday, March 31, 6 p.m., $8, all-ages

After a year on hiatus, Indy’s About the Fire is back, performing with motivated energy. The band’s newest member and former Seven Degrees from Center guitarist, Ross Neu, has helped rejuvenate the band. Its members say they never planned on breaking up; it was kind of a feeling of general despair and they just needed a break.

If you haven’t heard ATF, its music is a mixture of punk, metal and pop, with a strong foundation of melody. Neu will take over former lead Chris Morrison’s role, even his distinctive screams, as the band enters the studio next month to record a new full-length album. It’s going to be another concept record, according to the band.
