Fringe Friday
Theater
Fringe Fridays are supposed to build momentum for the annual Fringe Festival, which will happen in August. But these Friday night happenings are turning into after-work blasts in their own right.
This latest version takes place at the Auditorium of the Athenaeum, that architectural chambered nautilus found at 401 E. Michigan St. If you go, you’ll get to judge the IndyFringe Busker auditions. Street performers who want to do their thing as part of this year’s festival will be showing off their improvisational wares. And that’s not all: The Peoples Playhouse will be presenting a version of their upcoming production of A Funeral For Eve. The Orkestra Projekt, Indy’s concert music alternative, will also be there, performing their string orchestra rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze.” Things get going at 5:30 p.m. and wrap up at 7:30. Admission is free and there’s a cash bar. Stow the gas guzzler in the Athenaeum’s car park on East Michigan Street.
