Lunar Event

Safe Sex in the City
Radio Radio
Saturday, Feb. 11

One of the newest arrivals on the city’s political scene is Planned Parenthood Young Leaders, who have begun to promote quarterly “Safe Sex In the City” events around Indianapolis. The latest of these will be a concert promoting condom awareness at Radio Radio Feb. 11. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $10, or free for members of PPYL.

The performers include folk-punk rockers Weeds of Eden, alternative pop rockers Loretta and the indie/new wave sounds of Lunar Event, all of whom have donated their time and talent for the cause. This show also has the bittersweet distinction of being the final performance of longtime keyboardist/vocalist Gwynn Hermann with Lunar Event.

“The purpose of the event is to raise money and awareness for Planned Parenthood of Indiana, and also to promote the fact that next week is National Condom Awareness Week. We want to spread the message to anyone,” said Mandy Baker, staff liaison for PPYL. “PPYL has been formed in the last year, and it’s their mission to empower the next generation of supporters of the awareness of [Planned Parenthood]. And we put on a quarterly Safe Sex in the City event. This is the second event we’ve put on.”

Membership in PPYL is $35, and includes admission to all Safe Sex in the City events as well as Planned Parenthood’s annual gala. For more information on PPYL or the concert, check out www.ppin.org or contact Baker at mandy.baker@ppin.org.
