Upcoming abortion bills
by Editors Jan 25, 2006

Following last year’s legislation requiring caregivers to ask a woman seeking an abortion if she wants to hear the fetal heartbeat before the procedure, a new bill has been introduced requiring caregivers to offer fetal anesthetic, despite any scientific or medical evidence suggesting that a fetus experiences pain during the abortion procedure.

It makes us wonder what bills will be introduced in upcoming sessions of the Indiana General Assembly:

• 2007: Bill requires abortion providers to ask patient if she’d like to see what her fetus would look like wearing a cute stocking cap.

• 2007 (fall session): Bill requires abortion to be video recorded and placed on a Web site for global access.

• 2008: Bill requires fetus to be named prior to abortion.

• 2009: Bill requires those seeking abortions to receive a time-lapse depiction of their fetus at 8 years old.

• 2010: Bill requires fetus to be nicknamed prior to abortion.

• 2010 (fall session): Bill requires abortion providers to be hung.

• 2011: Bill requires fetus to be born.
