First Friday finds

Wondering what’s up for the First Friday IDADA tour? Get more information in our Culture Vulture section, and get a taste of the art that is out there right here. All events are Jan. 6.

• Galerie Penumbra will feature Bruce Moore’s The World Within. The exhibit features a series of paintings by Moore, who works in yupo, a polypropylene paint that allows for endless blending of color and motion. The opening reception is from 5-9 p.m. More info: 317-508-8043.

• The Happy Birthday Group Show will be held at the Harrison Gallery. Artists’ reception, 6-10 p.m., will include cake, party games, balloons and even swing dancing in the gym. Harrison Center artists have created work especially for the occasion. The show includes work by Elyce Elder, Scott Grow, Elizabeth Guipe Hall, Kipp Normand, Stacy Novak, Quincy Owens, Kyle Ragsdale, Casey Roberts, Artur Silva, Carolyn Springer and David Yosha. Also that night: Queen Bee concert series at 8 p.m. across from the gallery. Info at 317-514-6787.

• The Primary Colours 2006 Retrospective Invitational will be at the Stutz Gallery. The show is an invitational exhibit featuring 21 Indianapolis artists. The reception is from 5:30-9:30 p.m. (317-833-7000 ). Also, the Stutz Building has its “First Friday” event with open artists studios from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. More info at 317-590-8316.
