The Indiana Historical Society will host more than 75 authors at its second annual Holiday Author Fair from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Indiana Historical Center (450 W. Ohio St.). If you are someone who would just as soon talk to a writer as read one, this is the event for you.

Authors of fiction and nonfiction, cookbooks, photography, history, travel and children’s books will be there, including such local luminaries as Ray Boomhower, Terence Faherty, Chef Wendell Fowler, Valiska Gregory, Lou Harry, Darryl Jones, Susan Neville, Barbara Shoup, Dark Rain and James Alexander Thom. In other words, it’s a literary who’s who.

Of special note will be an appearance by Doug Crandell, whose new memoir, Pig Boy’s Wicked Bird (Chicago Review Press), has been getting great national reviews.

Speaking of Doug Crandell, he will also be making an in-store appearance at Big Hat Books in Broad Ripple on Friday, Dec. 3 from 6-8 p.m. Crandell won’t just sign copies of Pig Boy’s Wicked Bird, he will give a reading and will also show a documentary made about his trials and tribulations on the road. There will be drinks and food. Big Hat Books is located at 922 E. Westfield, next to the Monon Coffee Shop.
