Theater

• The American Cabaret Theatre, 401 E. Michigan St., will present A Christmas Carol — The New Musical. It’s the classic tale of Scrooge, but to music. The ACT will hold previews Nov. 19-21 and Dec. 3, with its official opening Dec. 4. The show will run through Dec. 19. For information and tickets, call 631-0334, www.americancabarettheatre.com.
Bob Motz as Ebenezer Scrooge in American Cabaret Theatre’s production of ‘A Christmas Carol — The New Musical,’ Nov. 19-Dec. 19.

• The Indiana Repertory Theatre, 140 W. Washington St., continues its traditional Christmas Carol Nov. 19-Dec. 24. See the IRT stage completely covered in “snow”! Again this year, Indianapolis’ favorite Scrooge, Chuck Goad, will take the lead. For information and tickets, $24-$49: 635-5252, www.indianarep.com.

• Theatre on the Square, 627 Mass. Ave., has made a show replacement: Christmas with the Crawfords has been chucked for A Tuna Christmas. Spend the night before Christmas with the inhabitants from small-town Tuna, Texas. The characters you met in Greater Tuna and Red, White and Tuna will return to attempt to cope with seasonal traumas such as a disaster-prone little theater production of A Christmas Carol and a yard decorating contest that is being sabotaged by a mysterious Christmas Phantom. Dave Ruark and Jonathon Horton will take on the multiple characterization Tuna shows are known for. Shows are Nov. 19-Dec. 11, Fridays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20. Call 685-TOTS.

Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas, based on the books of Robert Fulgham, will be on stage at Epilogue Players, 1849 Alabama St., Nov. 19-Dec. 5, Fridays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Fifteen stories relate the struggle for the meaning of the holidays amid the chaos that is the modern season. $8; $7 for seniors and students. 842-2811.

• AND FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT: Footlite Musicals will present the American musical classic Gypsy Nov. 19-Dec. 5, 1847 N. Alabama St. Friday-Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Gypsy is based on the early life of famed stripper Gypsy Rose Lee and her sister, the actress June Havoc, and their fanatical stage mother. Tickets are $15; call 926-6630.
