Arminta and Blaq Lily will perform at Cottage Home Block Party.

If Penrod is the city’s nicest day, then the Cottage Home Neighborhood Party may be Indy’s sweetest night. This year, Cottage Home celebrates its 20th year of throwing a rocking block party. This Saturday, Oct. 9, the festivities begin at 4 p.m. with Lord of the Yum Yum — see Scott Hall’s interview in this section with LYY. A host of fun activities include a renovator’s relay with Tim & Avi’s Salvage that involves a competition that includes hanging wallpaper, glazing windows and rebuilding a brick wall. Plus, enjoy musical performances by Brian Deer and his band, Arminta and Blaq Lily and The Soulful Ms. Debbie & the Manifest Blues Band.

Come in costume! Eat (ribs, gyros, Mexican, you name it), get your face painted, battle for products and services in the raffles and BYOD — Bring Your Own Drum or percussion instrument for the drum circle.

Location: Dorman and St. Clair streets just east of downtown. Admission is $5 (kids 12 and under are free). For more info, including a map: 639-2814 or 753-4348 or heritagephoto@indy.rr.com or http://normangraphics.com/BP.html.
