County fair

The Marion County Fair will be held July 22-31 at the Marion County Fairgrounds, 7300 E. Troy Ave. Expected county fair fare such as 4-H projects and animals will be on display, competitions will be held, rides will be swirling — and food vendors will be selling their summertime yummy concoctions.
Other events include concerts from Dog Talk (July 22, 7:30 p.m.), Knightsmen Band (July 23, 7:30 p.m.), a series of Latina music (July 25, starting at 4 p.m.), Scott Greeson (July 26, 7:30 p.m.), Endless Summer (July 28, 7:30 p.m.), Five Easy Pieces (July 29, 7:30 p.m.), Zanna-Doo (July 30, 7:30 p.m.), Peace Train (July 31, 7:30 p.m.) and more, including a Lion’s Club Demolition Derby (July 30, 7 p.m.). Ladies Night (half price tickets) is July 27, Educators Night (half price tickets) is July 28 and Kids Day (free rides from 12-1 p.m.) is July 29.
Admission is $4; season pass is $20 (available in the Administration Building). Children 5 and under admitted free and parking is free.
