Poets out loud
by Editors Jun 23, 2004

Jeff Matheus, one of the founders of the Poetry Alliance, will read as part of the ‘When Poets Speak’ fund-raiser June 26; 872-2155.

“When Poets Speak!” will feature readings by Ann Hostetler, Jeff Matheus and Jeff Ammerman, along with an open mic to celebrate the spoken word and benefit the Poetry Alliance of Indy. Hostetler is the author of a collection, Empty Room With Light, and teaches at Goshen College. Matheus is a founder of the Poetry Alliance and author of two books of poetry, A Pageant of Reflections and A Fragile Sanctuary. An active participant in the “slam poetry” scene, Ammerman’s books include The Blood of Revolution and All Grown Up.

Scheduled readings by these poets will begin at noon on Saturday, June 26 at the Glendale Branch Library located in Glendale Mall at 6101 N. Keystone Ave. There will be a limited number of spaces for the open mic reading and writers are urged to contact the Poetry Alliance by phone or e-mail to register for a slot. Call 872-2155 or e-mail jeffmatheus@hotmail.com.

Admission is free for this event and all ages are welcome. Donations will be accepted to support the ongoing efforts of the Poetry Alliance of Indy. You can check their Web site at www.webspawner.com/users/poetryjam/.
