Music on the prairie

A weekend of folk arts, music, singing and dancing is scheduled at Conner Prairie. The third White River Folk Festival will be held June 5-6.

National, international and local performing artists will rotate on three stages. Artists will perform folk music that includes Celtic, blues, traditional American, contemporary and more. Performers this year will be Jean Ritchie, Tom Chapin, John McCutcheon, Tim Eriksen, CommonbonD, Eric Noden, Brian Joseph, Kenny Edwards and more.

An open stage will be available for anyone who would like to share their talents. Register by 11 a.m. Saturday or Sunday. The open stage begins at noon.

Bring your instruments — workshops will be offered on guitar, dulcimer, Irish flute, Irish fiddle, shape note singing and more. Other workshops will include contra dance, harmony singing, old time percussion and songwriting. Demonstrations will also be held for hands-on activities such as pottery, woodworking, spinning and weaving.

Kids events and storytelling will also be featured. Food and shopping will be on-site as well. And more!
