The Broad Ripple Art Fair will be held May 22-23 at the Indianapolis Art Center; for tickets and information, call 255-2464, www.indplsartcenter.org.

Summer festival season will officially kick off May 22-23 with the 34th Broad Ripple Art Fair, held on the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center, 820 E. 67th St.

The art fair is the IAC’s largest fund-raiser, so pray for NO RAIN this year! It includes more than 250 national and international artists with an expected two-day attendance of more than 25,000 people. Artwork ranges from the funky to traditional, utilitarian to art for art’s sake.

Both artists and cultural organizations will be represented at the fair, as well as entertainment on four stages, a children’s area and 29 gourmet food vendors featuring many local restaurants.

Performing at the fair are Ann McWilliams, Jennie DeVoe, Village Drums, Dayna Malow, Mina Keohane, Spud Puppies, Stasia Demos, Cliff White & Roberto Monsalve, Bob Bullock, Idiophonic Rhythms with Bill Bailey, Nikki Cleary (national recording artist performing at the WFYI Kids’ Stage Saturday), Caribbean Consort, Cool Chilies, Uncle JuJu, Michael Kelsey, Seven Pleasures, Jan Aldredge Trio, Blueprintmusic, Beth & Dan Lodge Rigal and Monika Herzig.

Hours of the fair are Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the gate, $8 advance; $1 ages 12 and under. Advance tickets are available at the IAC, First Indiana Bank, Marsh Supermarkets, O’Malia Food Markets and Ticket Central in the Artsgarden. Free parking and shuttle busses are available at Broad Ripple High School, Broad Ripple Park and the east overflow parking lot at Glendale Mall. There will also be a free supervised bike corral for Monon Trail users. For more info: 255-2464, www.indplsartcenter.org.
