Walker to head NUVO’s news efforts

Walker was a news writer at the Greenfield Daily Reporter from 1995 until 2003, during which time he also made regular freelance contributions to NUVO. He has written news and sports stories for the Associated Press as well as several large city newspapers. Since February of 2003, Walker has been a full-time staff writer and photographer at NUVO.
“We are thrilled that Jim has accepted the challenge of directing our news efforts,” says NUVO editor-publisher Kevin McKinney. “Jim’s wealth of journalism experience will be a great asset to us, and he has already shown he can attract and inspire a variety of voices to contribute to NUVO’s pages.”
Walker has been teaching writing at IUPUI part-time for eight years and has published a guide to writing poetry.
“I’m pleased to be able to help continue NUVO’s tradition of covering the important stories often overlooked or under-covered by the mainstream media,” Walker says. “Today, more than ever, this paper’s independent, intelligent and inquisitive approach to news writing is crucial for our community.”
