LGBT Film Festival
by Editors Sep 10, 2003

An array of lesbian, gay and bisexual-themed films never before screened in Indiana will comprise this year’s Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival, taking place Sept. 12-14 at Key Cinemas, 4044 S. Keystone Ave. The festival is sponsored by the Indiana Youth Group, the oldest LGBT-focused agency in the city, and serves the dual purpose of being IYG’s primary fund-raiser, along with providing role models and heroes on the screen for LGBT youth. Nearly 30 films, ranging from five-minute shorts to two-hour features, will screen Saturday and Sunday. The festival includes the Indiana premiere of the documentary THIS obedience, which concerns the controversial ordination of a gay pastor, Anita C. Hill, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Half of the documentary was shot during the ELCA’s 2001 National Assembly in Indianapolis. The opening night party, Friday at 7 p.m., features the documentary Jim in Bold, with appearances by director Glenn Holstein and family members of the documentary’s subject, Jamie Wheeler. The opening night party is $35; a pass for all Saturday and Sunday screenings is $50. Both together are $75. For more information: www.keycinemas.com or www.indylgbtfilm.com or 541-8726.
