Local man familiar with satirical news exclusively
“If it’s worth knowing, it’s worth mocking,” according to Aaron Kohn, an Indianapolis I.T. manager. The realization that he consumes political satire in lieu of actual news came as a shock to Kohn, who was printing an article from www.theonion.com while listening to an MP3 of Dennis Miller rants.
“Here I was at my desk, killing a few minutes before an internal meeting, and it occurred to me: The jokes I’m listening to, and reading, are about all I get regarding world events. Weird.”

Unable to stay focused on conventional reporting media, Kohn has relied entirely upon humorists for his news since 1999. “At first, it was cool to get a different slant on things,” Kohn said. “But now, it’s pretty much the only slant.” Kohn admits this method has drawbacks. “Sure I didn’t know about monkeypox until Conan’s opening monologue. But it was sure a lot funnier the way I heard it.”
Friends, however, remain critical. “Why get all your news from some smarmy liberal wiseass when there are plenty of straightforward, unbiased sources available?” complained Brad Raymer, a co-worker of Kohn’s. “I even offered to help. He knows I have every episode of The O’Reilly Factor on tape.”
