Art fair meets farmer’s market
by Editors Aug 8, 2007

The Irvington Guild of Artists’ “Walk in the Park” art fair will be held Aug. 12, noon-5 p.m. in Ellenberger Park in collaboration with the Irvington Garden Club’s farmer’s market, which features over 45 booths of produce, soaps, candles, plants, and community information.

The juried art event will include approximately 45 artists, including painters, sculptures, photographers, jewelers, weavers and potters.

Returning this year is “Flash Painting.” Watch as some of the artists participate in a competition to create an instant masterpiece to the tunes of Everett Greene.

New this year are “Artists at Work” demos, including glass bead making by the Indiana Society of Lampwork and Glass Artists, silver clay by Magickal Dragon Designs, making dolls from cloth by Indy Cloth Dollmakers and Indiana Repertory Theatre’s discussions, readings and exploration of the production Our Town.

From 12-3 p.m., singer/songwriter Butch Castetter will perform, and from 3-5 p.m., jazz, blues and gospel singer Everett Greene will perform.

The Studio School & Gallery will also have a “Dali’s Digs for Kids” area, a children’s area that will include mural painting, artist-inspired projects, sculpture and performance art.

The art fair and farmer’s market are free. Ellenberger Park is located at 5301 E. St. Clair.
