Dixie Power Trio of Four closed the 2008 music series with a strut and a swag on a steamy evening with so much going on downtown the calendar needed suspenders to keep from falling down. Zachary Smith and the Dixie Power Trio are down-home crowd pleasers from the top of the show and they never let up, moving easily into and out of Zydeco, blues, Dixieland, jazz and Cajun on an eclectic set of instruments. They get the audience involved. They get involved. They play with grace and joyfulness, with segues from style to style within a set to make us understand and appreciate the cauldron of activity and cultures from which their music springs. Well, 14 Thursdays since May 29 the free music’s over, but you can catch the free films at dusk on Fridays through Sept. 19. Call 317-232-1882, www.indianahistory.org.
