Indianapolis Civic Theatre; directed by Robert J. Sorbera; June 7

This fund-raiser for the Civic Theatre has a delightful, elastic premise: a recreation of The Ed Sullivan Show, with local — and some not so local — performers mimicking well-known stars. Standouts from the evening include Tom Beeler in his various roles, Annie Steele as Patsy Cline, the young cast from Oliver and the Liverpool Legends, a Chicago-based Beatles tribute group. Even the less polished performances had that charm of watching a loved one shining in the spotlight.
