'Victor/Victoria' at ACT
by Editors Apr 22, 2008

The Indianapolis premiere of Victor/Victoria will run at the American Cabaret Theatre April 25-June 1. The Broadway show is based on the 1982 film of the same name. It tells the story of a penniless soprano, Victoria, who conspires with a gay impresario to disguise herself as “Victor” and, coincidentally, becomes famous in Paris. Complications arise when a mobster sees the act and is attracted to its star. The real question: Is he attracted to Victor, or Victoria?

The show will be directed by Bob Harbin with musical direction by John Austin Butsch: the pair that brought the Indianapolis premieres of The Full Monty and High School Musical to ACT in 2007.

The local cast includes April Armstrong, Bobbi Bates, Justin Ivan Brown, David Michael Cress, Nathalie Cruz, Michael Davis, Darrin Gowan, Mary Hampton, Annette Hirsch, Julie Inskeep, Jason Johnson, Eric Karwisch, Robert Kingery, Vickie Klosky, Sue Liechty, Michelle Martin, Dane Rogers, Dave Ruark, Rory Shivers, Ron Spencer, Karlton D. Turner and Claire Wilcher.

The ACT is located at 401 E. Michigan St. For tickets ($25 and $30; students under 18 and seniors over 60, $20), call 317-631-0334, ext.102.
