'Tosca': an erotic triangle
by Editors Mar 12, 2008

You want opera with a giant “O”? The Indianapolis Opera gives it to you March 14 and 16 with an epic production of Puccini’s masterpiece, Tosca. Tosca offers audiences dramatic intensity and memorable tunes; it’s a starmaking machine for sopranos. A great story combined with lush orchestration provides a platform for one of opera’s great heroines. To free the man she loves, Tosca must love the man she hates. The rest is, as they say “operatic.”

Nationally recognized singers Stella Zambalis, William Joyner and Victor Benedetti form the erotic triangle. Maestro James Caraher conducts the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Indianapolis Opera Chorus. Performances are at Clowes Memorial Hall on the Butler University campus at 8 p.m. March 14 and 2 p.m. March 16. Tickets begin at $25. Get them at the Clowes box office or through TicketMaster at 317-239-1000. Visit www.indyopera.org for information.
