'Survivor' winner speaks about giving
by Editors Feb 6, 2008

Ethan Zohn, winner of the Africa-based season of the long-running CBS reality series Survivor, will speak about his charity work and the importance of character tonight, Feb. 6, at the University of Indianapolis at 8 p.m.

Zohn, a former professional soccer player, is known for using much of his $1 million in winnings from the show to co-found Grassroot Soccer, a not-for-profit organization that enlists the help of professional soccer players to educate children in southern Africa about HIV/AIDS.

In addition to his speaking engagements and involvement in Grassroot Soccer, Zohn is a national spokesperson for America SCORES and has done extensive charity work for KickAIDS, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, YouthAIDS and the Colon Cancer Alliance.

The event is free and takes place in the Ruth Lilly Performance Hall of UIndy’s Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center, 1400 E. Hanna Ave. For more information, call 317-788-3507.
