Ideals and reality

A married (male and female) couple may be ideal for children (assuming they can provide a loving, stable home) (Dispatch, “Unmarried Parents Considered Unsuitable,” May 24-31). Often, this is not available to all of the children needing care. Sometimes, siblings are split up because potential parents don’t want them all or the children that have special needs are not wanted. Are we to let these children languish in the system? If there are truly enough traditional couples who desire to be foster or adoptive parents and are deserving, then this debate would not be taking place at all. Ideals are one thing, reality is another. Wise up people!
