In harmony with the environment
As a kid growing up in Indianapolis my family and I went to the Indiana Dunes every summer to camp (Hoppe, “Other People’s Money,” April 26-May 3). I have been living in New Jersey now for the past 30 years, but when I stopped by about five years ago on a road trip to Chicago I found that both hotels, the one on the lake (don’t remember the name) and another one that I remember (The Duneside Inn), which was inland in the park, were both gone. When I asked no one seemed to remember them.
It’s interesting to me that they’re reviving this idea. The old hotels seemed, as I recall, to be reasonably in harmony with the environment.
You’re absolutely right, though, it’s a great place.
