Non-careerist politicians
Great article! You clearly did your homework (and really opened my eyes); I had no idea how much “pork” had been thrown into the I-69 extension project (Cover, “Highway to Hell,” March 15-22). Thankfully, the flood of wasted taxpayer dollars blown on the “standoff” will soon come to an end. You really nailed it at the very end: “That is, until Mitch Daniels arrived in Indiana.” One of things that I love most about new (non-careerist) politicians: They get things done … just like our founding fathers envisioned when they asked folks to “serve and go home” concerning elected positions.
Can you imagine how much we’d get done with term limits? I’d love to see you touch on that subject sometime down the road. Thanks again for a great piece.
