Horse day

Fundraiser

Friends of Ferdinand Indiana, Inc., a nonprofit that adopts retired Indiana racehorses, providing them a retirement career, will be holding their first fund-raiser Oct. 30, 1-4 p.m. to raise funds to support their first rescue/adoption of a Hoosier Park racehorse, One-Eyed Peak.

The event will be held at the 200-acre Fortune family farm in Zionsville, Fox Run Farm, where the 5-year-old gelding with one eye (as his name implies) will be on hand. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the farm at this casual cocktail reception, the goal of which is to raise $1,400 for the adoption fee and care costs for One-Eyed Peak.

Tickets are $50 per person and an RSVP is required. Mail a check or donation to PO Box 441518, Indianapolis, IN 46244. E-mail sadlerdat@aol.com with questions or to get more information. The organization is named for Ferdinand, the 1986 Kentucky Derby and 1987 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, who in 2002 was slaughtered for meat in Japan.
