This Friday was my first time visiting Dick’s Bodacious BBQ, a Broad Ripple restaurant that also doubles as a venue. Dick’s hosts an open mic every week and shows on the weekends. The shows are all ages, although they can start late. This show featured the Pen 15 Club, Between Rooms and Two Bit Terribles, with a one-person act called “Mansuper” between sets. The Pen 15 Club played first around 10 or 10:30, and the show seemed more like a typical Broad Ripple night, with people walking in and out, but the bands adjusted and still had as much energy as usual.

After they finished, “Mansuper” came on and, well, he was strange to say the least. He was wearing a Pacers jersey that was at least three sizes too small and stepped on stage with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica and alternately howled and mumbled into the microphone as the bands set up.

Between Rooms played next, only a two-person band. The highlight of their set was their cover of “House of the Rising Sun.” Around 12:30, Two Bit Terribles finished off the show after “Mansuper” struck again and they sounded awesome. Overall, their history includes maybe a dozen shows together, but you would never guess. They were the perfect way to finish off the night.
