Cultural and fashion vision
Jane Rulon, director of the Indiana Film Commission, has a fabulous job that requires looking equally fabulous. How else could she convince glamorous European fashion magazines to shoot their spreads in Indiana cornfields if she wasn’t up to snuff?

Last Friday night during the Stutz Artists Studio Tour, she earned a NUVO Cultural Vision Award for her efforts to put Indiana on the film map.
She also earned one or two adoring, “Who is she?” remarks from attendees. When you’re hustling and hobnobbing with film directors on behalf of Indiana, you have to dress the part and be prepared for anything to happen at any time. A good sense of humor isn’t bad either (especially when you appear in the fashion column!).
Jane does this smashingly with her signature look — long, skinny, “provocative” scarf wrapped once around her neck, straight knee-length skirt, her classic straight shoulder-length bob haircut and the sexiest shoes. The classy look can take her from office e-mails to public engagements and unexpected, work-related canoodling.
Her sheer, flowy neck scarf was a perfect compliment to her V-neck knit top. This was more finished than wearing a simple necklace or nothing at the neckline.
The neutral-toned, flesh-colored slingbacks Jane wore to the CVAs are just about the most perfect shoe known to womankind. The warmer than beige and softer than camel color taupe summer shoe is a faultless match to girly pastel color coordinates in style this spring and summer. You are never mismatched if your shoes are delicate and match your skin tone. This draws attention upward to your ensemble and/or your super-shine. It also gives the illusion of a longer line to your legs — oh-la-la!
The long, pointy toe is a very in look in women’s heels. Paired with the kitten heel design, Jane’s shoes are devilishly girlie and sophisticated all in one. They work in part because her outfit doesn’t take attention away from them. Ditch the practical winter clod-hoppers in favor of a playful and visionary wedge, ballet flat or pair of slingbacks to truly put some spring into your step. Take a risk and buy the most appealing pair even if you have no idea what you will wear them with. Shoes are an easy, instant way to seasonally update the basics in your wardrobe. It’s an accessory A+.
