Libertarian builds road
[this article is satire]
It all started with a challenge from his 9-year-old son, neighborhood pain-in-the-ass Nicky Frud: “Daddy, if you’re such a Libertarian, then why are we driving to California on the socialistic interstate highway system?”
Now local libertarian Micky “Me Me Me” Frud, 35, is in the process of building his own personal highway to California. “It is in keeping with my Libertarian ideals,” he said while cleaning the inside of the exhaust pipe of his Cadillac Escalade. “I plan to build my own highway to California, and the hell with everybody else, with all these weaklings I am forced to share the planet with.”
In the past seven months, Frud has spent $450,000 on construction equipment. He has completed only 9 inches of the highway due to difficulties in obtaining the land needed to build his personal road. Furthermore, he says, building a highway is tough work. “It is dirty and hard work, unlike what I’m used to,” said Frud, his hands as smooth as those of a society matron. “But reading my old Ayn Rand books from college gives me strength, and I just know I can do it!”
Frud expects to have the road finished in the year 2941, at a cost of $75 trillion.
He unfortunately will be dead at that time.
