Steve Janiak Benefit Show
Steve Janiak Benefit Show
Birdy"s
Wednesday, March 12
In the best tradition of artists helping out fellow artists, some of the biggest names in local music will come together Wednesday at Birdy"s to benefit a colleague in trouble. Steve Janiak, best known for his work with the bands Neurotic Box, the Pub Sigs and Devil To Pay, was recently hospitalized with a serious illness. The show Wednesday, which also features a silent auction, will help subsidize his medical bills.
Playing will be some of Janiak"s friends and associates in the music scene, including Sam King, formerly of Push Down & Turn, Destination: Earth! and a reunion of the Danny Rollings Band.
"Steve Janiak is incredibly supportive and inspirational to a large number of people in the music community, including myself," says Matt Fecher of IndianapolisMusic.net, which is helping organize the show. "I"ve seen him put other people first and make sacrifices for the greater good on numerous occasions, even when he was more deserving."
He says, "The cooperation among musicians is quite possibly the most extensive I"ve ever seen. Everyone is putting their own agendas aside to focus on helping a friend."
The show begins promptly at 7 p.m. While admission is free, donations at the door are requested. Here"s the tentative running order of the show.
